INTRODUCTION

Despite the fact that we have in the folds of our history Aowliya like Hadhrat Awais(R.A.), Hadhrat Junaid(R.A.), Hadhrat Bayazeed(R.A.), Hadrat Ali Hajvery(R.A), Hadhrat Abdul Qadir (R.A.), Hadrat Shaikh Ahamad(R.A.), Hadhrat Shah Wali Ullah(R.A) and Ulam-e-Rakheen / scholars like Jabir Bin Hayan, Bo Ali Sina, Al Baruni, Ibn-e-Khuldun, Ibn-e-Rushd and many others; we had places like Baghdad, Damishique for educational and spiritual excellence. Muslim world today is illiterate or living below poverty level or under the grip of extremism, leaving few exceptions. Once we were the epicenter of spiritualism/tasuwuff, knowledge and civilization now we are living marginalized life in world community. There is paucity of places for spiritual / psychological guidance, limited educational institutions to enhance literacy level and to provide quality education, and very limited think tanks / research centers to provide impartial and objective research on social, economic, and political, problems of Muslim Ummah. It is demand of time to launch a comprehensive effort to meet these challenges of time. Al-Kitab is established to fulfill this demand of time, moreover, it is plate-form to support ongoing similar efforts by others. Al-Kitab is visioned to institute a collective effort in order to ensure that there would be:
Free institutions to manage faith oriented spiritual/psychological problems,
Permanent literacy campaign to achieve universal literacy at private & government level,
Quality Education and Personal Growth at very reasonable cost,
Impartial applied research on social, economic and political issues.
